Review: Winter Brides by Various
A December Bride - Denise Hunter
About The Book:
Layla O'Reilly is about to attend a wedding. The wedding of her ex-fiance and cousin. Her escort is the man responsible for this whole mess - Seth Murphy. At the reception Seth -spur of the moment- makes up a story about him and Layla being engaged. And now everyone knows. Seth has secretly loved Layla for years, but she can't stand him. Will he be able to convince her to have a real wedding before she calls everything off?
My Thoughts:
I loved this story! It was so funny and so well written. This character is also from Denise's Chapel Springs series but you don't have to read them to be able to enjoy this story. I enjoyed how Seth had fallen so hard for Layla and was trying so hard to win her over, it was very cute! December Bride has also been made into a Hallmark movie. The movie is good, but doesn't even compare to the book!! I suggest while watching it, not thinking about how the book and movie are related. I saw the movie after watching the book and kept getting in trouble by family members for yelling at the movie because that's not the way it happened in the book. :)
A January Bride - Deborah Raney
About The Book:
Madeleine Houser's new house is being remolded and she needs someplace quiet as she writes her novel. Her neighbor Ginney suggest's an old B&B that's not used too much anymore. Madeleine accepts and throughout her stay - not really a stay- there, her and the owner of the B&B begin to get to know each other through notes left on the table every day. They soon becomes friends and. . .something more. How can Maddy be falling for a guy who is probably lots older then her, and a man she's never met!?
My Thoughts:
This book has many, many, lough out loud moments! I can't say too much without giving spoilers... It was so well written though! Normally I don't care too much for books where they never really meet, or talk. But how can you not enjoy this story? It also had plenty of spiritual content. I loved how they first became friends and it went from there. They got to know each other through these letters in a different way then normal, before they even met.
A February Bride - Betsy St. Amant
About The Book:
Allie Andrews has just run away from her wedding. She loves Marcus but is afraid she'll repeat her families mistakes. Now, months later they are thrown together again. Will she finally be able to let go of the past and accept a future with Marcus?
Allie deals with a lot of issues, ones that have been passed down from her grandmother, to her mother, and now to her. And because of these issues she's too scared to commit to a marriage with Marcus.
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed reading about her journey to letting go, accepting forgiveness from God and letting Marcus in. This one was very cute and had a more series note to it. Another great read in this novella collection!
So yes, every story in this collection was amazing! If your looking for a light hearted, quick read this is for you. But really, read it even if that's not what your looking for! These books were amazing!
