Review: Revealed by Elaine Manders

About The Book:

When her father dies, Katherine Levinson discovers secrets that render her happy childhood a farce. Facing eviction she has no choice but to appeal to the brother she's never met, famous cattle baron Rhyan Cason. Over her gravely ill mother's objections, they move to the sprawling Nebraska cattle ranch, Sollano.

Instead of a warm welcome, they are met with whispers and scorn. Gradually, the sins of her parents' past surface, and Katherine begins to doubt her very identify. With her brother busy with cattle rustlers and her mother too ill to be bothered Katherine turns to Colt Holliman, a soft-spoken neighboring rancher, for comfort.

Colt has promised to wait for Charley Ryder, an acclaimed female sharp shooter and equestrian acrobat with the Wild West Show, but it's clear Charley loves the show more than him. As his attraction to Katherine grows, he finds himself spiritually conflicted. Can he break from the past commitments to follow his heart?

Then unexpected danger strikes, testing Katherine's and Colt's faith in God - and each other.

My Thoughts:

This is the first book I've read by Elaine Manders. And I flew through it. It was a good story and an easy read. Sometimes it felt like it was more of a YA book because of the wording, but it was still a good book. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and really liked the main girl, Katherine. How she handled everything that was thrown her way and her spunk. There was a mystery as well that kept the story moving. She had a lesson of forgiveness and trusting God in your life that was sprinkled throughout the book without being too strong.

I did feel that they showed affection in public and around each other more than was normal for that time period.

Favorite Quote From This Book:

"Your name doesn't define you. Your past doesn't define you. You're made in the image of God, and that makes you equal with everyone else."

I received this book from Celebrate Lit for an honest review.
